The potential for transmedia theatre

Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, theatre as a medium has undergone various technological transformations that have led to new aesthetic and compositional strategies. In addition to this, its growing presence in the network society has led to an assimilation of media that is unprecedented in this new hybrid art form.

Some of its most representative manifestations are described here: hyperdrama, digital theatre, cyberperformance and, in particular, the category of transmediality in relation to theatre.
