Rui Torres (b. 1973 Porto, Portugal) graduated in Communication Sciences (UFP, Porto, 1995), is M.A. and Ph.D. (1997-2002) in Luso-Brazilian Literature (UNC -Chapel Hill, USA), was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Hypermedia (PUC-Sao Paulo, Brazil, 2005-07), and completed his Habilitation in Information Sciences -Multimedia Studies (UFP, Porto, 2013). He is Associate Professor at Univ. Fernando Pessoa (UFP), teaching undergraduate and postgraduate seminars in semiotics, literature, and new media. He was a lecturer and visiting professor in several Universities. He has publications (books, chapters of books, articles) on literature, new media, and experimental and electronic literature. His research interests include Digital Humanities,Experimental poetry and Cyberliterature, and Literature -Databases, Archive and Preservation. He is an author of electronic literature, having his digital poems published in anthologies, collections, and CD-ROMs. He is the Director and editor of the journal Cibertextualidades, and member of several editorial boards and scientific committees of academic Journals. He has participated in Conferences in Europe, China, India, and the Americas, having organized and served in the scientific committee of several other scientific events. Member of the Board of Directors of the ELO-Electronic Literature Organization (MIT), he is also member of CELL-Consortiumfor Electronic Literature and DDDL-Digital Digital Digital Littérature: European Network of Digital Literature. He has participated in funded projects as Principal Investigator and as a Member, currently coordinating the Digital Archive of Portuguese Experimental Literature <http://po-ex.net>. He has successfully completed the supervision of two (2) PostDocs, two (2) PhD Theses, and twenty (20) M.A. Dissertations. Native speaker of Portuguese, Fluent in English, understands and reads Spanish, Italian, ad French. Advanced knowledge of Multimedia software and web programming. Experience in digital archives and e-learning.
